KITO B7.1N – Vent Cap with Flame Arrestor

The KITO® VH-…-IIC-T is a terminal tank venting device equipped with a flame arrestor element, designed for deflagration and short-time burning protection. It is installed on tank roofs, manway covers, or breather pipes, allowing gas release to atmosphere and air intake into the tank or pipeline. Installation in enclosed spaces is not permitted.

Operating Range

  • Explosion group: IIC
  • MESG: < 0.5 mm
  • Max operating temperature: 60 °C
  • Protection: flame transmission and short-duration burning
  • Sensor: PT100, connection 3/8", material 1.4571
  • Stabilized burning detection: burn time 1 minute

This device is not a pressure/vacuum relief valve and does not include an actuator. No set pressure is provided; where overpressure or vacuum control is required, a separate P/V valve must be specified.

Dimensions and Connections

Available in DN 50 to DN 800. Sizes DN 50–150 are supplied in PN 16, while DN 200–800 are in PN 10. Standard connection is EN 1092-1 type B1 flange, with ASME B16.5 Class 150 RF as an option.

Materials of Construction

  • Body: cast steel 1.0619; from DN 350, steel
  • Optional: stainless cast steel 1.4408; from DN 350, stainless 1.4571
  • Gaskets: HD 3822 or PTFE
  • Flame arrestor element: replaceable
  • Housing: steel or stainless 1.4571
  • Mesh: 1.4310 or 1.4571
  • Weather hood: stainless steel

Sizing

DN selection is based on venting rate, allowable pressure drop, gas density, and explosion group. Flow curves are provided for air at ρ = 1.29 kg/m³ at 273 K; correction for other gases is required based on density.

Standards and Certification

Type examination certificate per EN ISO 16852 and CE marking in accordance with ATEX 2014/34/EU are referenced in the technical documentation.

Description

KITO® VH-…-IIC-T

  • As breather/venting safety device incorporating an explosion and short-time burn proof flame arrester element for installation on top of storage tanks, tank access covers or breather pipes.
  • The breather allows the unimpeded flow of gases out to atmosphere and air into the tank/pipe thereby preventing vacuum locks whilst ensuring provision of a permanent and reliable protection against any Flashback into the tank/pipe.
  • This device is not permitted to be installed in enclosed areas.
  • Approved for all materials of the explosion group IIC with a maximum experimental safe gap (MESG) < 0.5 mm and an maximum operating temperature of 60 °C.
  • Design with temperature sensor, to detect a “stabilized burning” (burn time 1 minute).
