KITO B7N – Vent Cap with Flame Arrestor

The KITO® VH-…-IIC type B7N is a terminal venting device for storage tanks, manway covers, and breathing pipelines. It integrates a flame arrestor element to prevent explosive flame transmission into the tank or pipeline. Not intended for installation in enclosed spaces.

Operating Range

  • Explosion group: IIC
  • MESG: < 0.5 mm
  • Max operating temperature: 60 °C
  • Operation: free tank breathing, no actuator
  • Use: end-of-line breather / venting safety device

The B7N is not a pressure/vacuum valve. It does not provide set pressure and does not replace a P/V valve where controlled overpressure or vacuum protection is required.

Dimensions and Connection

Available in sizes from DN 50 to DN 800. DN 50–150 supplied in PN 16, DN 200–800 in PN 10. Standard connection is flange EN 1092-1 type B1, with option for ASME B16.5 Class 150 RF.

  • Body: cast steel 1.0619, from DN 350 welded steel
  • Optional: cast stainless steel 1.4408, from DN 350 stainless 1.4571
  • Gaskets: HD 3822 or PTFE
  • Flame arrestor element: fully replaceable
  • Shell: steel or stainless 1.4571
  • Mesh: 1.4310 or 1.4571
  • Weather hood: stainless steel
  • Protective mesh: 1.4301 or 1.4571, not for DN 50–100

Sizing

DN selection is based on required breathing flow, allowable pressure drop, gas density, and explosion group. Flow curves are provided for air at ρ = 1.29 kg/m³ at 273 K and atmospheric pressure; for other gases, density correction is required.

Standards

Technical documentation includes type examination certificate per EN ISO 16852 and marking in accordance with ATEX 2014/34/EU.

Description

KITO® VH-…-IIC

  • As breather/venting safety device incorporating an explosion proof flame arrester element for installation on top of storage tanks, tank access covers or breather pipes.
  • The breather allows the unimpeded flow of gases out to atmosphere and air into the tank/pipe thereby preventing vacuum locks whilst ensuring provision of a permanent and reliable protection against any flashback into the tank/pipe.
  • This device is not permitted to be installed in enclosed areas.
  • Approved for all materials of the explosion group IIC with a maximum experimental safe gap (MESG) < 0.5 mm and an maximum operating temperature of 60 °C.
