KITO B6.2N – Vent Cap with Flame Arrestor

The KITO® VH-…-IIB3-XT is a terminal tank vent device equipped with a flame arrestor element for deflagration and short-time burning protection. Designed for installation on tank roofs, manway covers, or vent line terminations, it enables tank breathing (inhalation/exhalation) while preventing flame transmission into the vessel.

  • Explosion group: IIB3
  • MESG: ≥ 0.65 mm
  • Max operating temperature: 180 °C
  • Protection: flame transmission (deflagration) and short-duration burning
  • Installation: not suitable for enclosed spaces
  • Sensor: PT100, connection 3/8", material 1.4571

This is a passive device. It is not a pressure/vacuum relief valve, has no actuator, and does not provide a defined set pressure. For tanks requiring overpressure or vacuum control, a separate P/V valve is necessary.

Dimensions and Connections

Available in DN 50 to DN 400. DN 50–150 supplied in PN 16; DN 200–400 in PN 10. Standard connection is flange EN 1092-1 type B1, with optional ASME B16.5 Class 150 RF.

Sizing

DN selection is based on required breathing flow, allowable pressure drop, gas density, and explosion group. Flow curves are provided for air (ρ = 1.29 kg/m³ at 273 K); density correction is required for other gases.

Type test certification per EN ISO 16852 and CE marking in accordance with ATEX 2014/34/EU.

Description

KITO® VH-…-IIB3-XT

  • End-of-line venting device incorporating an explosion and short-time burn proof flame arrester element for installation on storage tanks.
  • Suitable to protect flammable products of explosion group IIB3 with a maximum experimental safe gap (MESG) ≥ 0.65 mm up to a maximum operating temperature of 180 °C.
  • This device is not permitted to be installed in enclosed areas.
  • Installation on top of storage tanks, tank access covers or at the end of breather pipes.
  • It prevent a flashback into the tank and allows the inbreathing and out breathing of the tank.
  • Design with temperature sensor, to detect a “stabilized burning” (burn time 1 minute).
