ARI-FABA®-Supra I — Industrial Bellows Seal Valve

The ARI-FABA®-Supra I is a globe-type isolation valve with a metallic bellows, designed for systems requiring stem leakage prevention in steam, condensates, hot water, thermal circuits, and auxiliary process lines. The I version is the industrial version: the bellows is shielded and positioned outside the main flow path, beneficial in turbulent or pulsating flow conditions post-pumps, bends, and branches.

Construction and Versions

  • Connections: flanged, butt weld, Y-pattern, and angle version.
  • Pressure Classes: PN25 / PN40, depending on DN and material.
  • Body Materials: 1.0619+N / GP240GH+N, 1.0460 / P250GH, stainless steel versions.
  • Bellows and Stem: 1.4571.
  • Secondary Sealing: pure graphite.
  • Standard Plug: metal plug with marginal seat.

Sizing Selection

In the flanged straight-through version Fig.146, the range is DN15–DN400 with Kvs 4.7–2640 m³/h. Selection should be based on Kvs, ΔP, temperature, body material, flow direction, and media compatibility, not solely on pipe diameter. High differential pressure requires a balancing plug; indicative values are above 25 bar at DN125, 14 bar at DN200, and 6 bar at DN300.

Installation and Operation

For optimal operation, straight lengths of at least 2 × DN upstream and 6 × DN downstream are recommended. In steam lines, avoid water accumulation and prevent pipe loads from transferring to the valve body.

Automation and Standards

The version with a two-piece stem can be paired with a pneumatic actuator ARI-FA, with a medium temperature limit of 250°C and not for use in versions with a balancing plug. Standards include EN ISO 15848-1 / TA-Luft, TÜV Test No. TA 07 2016 C04, EN 13709, TRB 801 Annex II No.45, and PED 2014/68/EU.

FAQ

When to choose Supra I over Supra C?
When the bellows needs protection from the main flow, especially in pulsating or turbulent operation.

Is it a control valve?
It can be used for limited throttling, but the primary use is isolation. ΔP, noise, and seat wear must be monitored.
