Hafner Classic-line Filter Elements Type A

The FE and FEC filter elements are specified as replacement cartridges for the Hafner Classic-line A air preparation series. Selection is based on unit size and required filtration grade, not solely on FRL unit thread size. These elements are suitable for compressed air in industrial automation, pneumatic actuation, and process control environments.

FE Versions for General Filtration

The FE elements are available for sizes A-0, A-1, A-2, and A-3 with the following filtration grades:

• 5 micron: Fine particle retention upstream of valves, regulators, and pneumatic instruments.
• 20 micron: Standard filtration for general pneumatic circuits.
• 50 micron: Pre-filtration or applications where pressure drop must be minimized.

FEC Versions for Fine Filtration

FEC elements provide 0.01 micron filtration and are also available for A-0 to A-3 units. Used where low particulate load or protection of sensitive downstream equipment is required, such as in instrumentation air or critical process control panels.

Selection Criteria

Selection is based on:

• Unit size: A-0, A-1, A-2, or A-3
• Required filtration grade: 50, 20, 5, or 0.01 micron
• Permissible pressure drop
• Downstream valve and actuator sensitivity
• Quality of incoming compressed air

Maintenance

Replace the filter element when pressure drop increases, contamination is visible in the bowl, or valve response slows due to insufficient flow. For critical panels, differential pressure monitoring and preventive replacement based on actual operating conditions are recommended.
