ADCA R Tubular Heating Elements

ADCA R tubular heating elements are designed for steam-water applications in vertical or horizontal tanks. They are used for direct heating within a tank or process vessel, eliminating the need for an external shell-tube exchanger. Installation is horizontal on the tank.

Applications

Typical uses include:

  • heating water in storage tanks,
  • preheating process water with steam,
  • thermal support for production tanks,
  • use with steam, water, hot condensate, and compatible industrial fluids.

Construction

The tube bundle is made of stainless steel AISI 316L / 1.4404, featuring low-fin tubes to increase the external heat exchange surface. The tubes are straight to facilitate mechanical cleaning. A floating head minimizes stress from thermal expansion and contraction of the bundle.

Models and Connections

Available models: R5, R6, R8, R10. Connections are flanged according to EN 1092-1 PN16 or ASME B16.5 Class 150, with threaded connections available upon request.

Operating Limits

Operating pressure reaches 16 bar at 50 °C. For PN16, 15 bar at 100 °C, 12.7 bar at 200 °C, and 12 bar at 250 °C are specified. The minimum operating temperature is -10 °C. Design is based on AD-Merkblatt with CE / PED Group 2 marking per size.

Selection Criteria

Sizing requires steam pressure, water temperature, tank volume, required heating time, heat losses, and condensation conditions. Control is typically achieved with a steam control valve and proper condensate removal.

FAQ

When to choose the R series?
When heating must occur inside a tank with a removable tube bundle.

What affects maintenance?
Water quality, deposits on the external side of the tubes, and proper condensate drainage.
