ADCA ADCAMat PPT-K Simplex – Pump Trap Unit for Closed Circuits

The PPT-K Simplex is a pre-assembled automatic mechanical pump-trap unit designed for lifting hot condensate in closed steam circuits. It differs from a simple condensate pump as it functions simultaneously as a steam trap and a mechanical pump when the available differential pressure is insufficient for natural drainage.

Operating Principle

Condensate enters the PPT14 pump trap. When there is positive differential pressure, drainage occurs as a steam trap. When the equipment pressure falls below the backpressure of the return line, a mechanical pumping cycle is activated using motive steam, displacing the condensate to the return. This setup is suitable for heat exchangers with steam control, where stall conditions occur at partial load.

Technical Specifications

  • Sizes: DN40 × DN25 and DN50 × DN40
  • Materials: Carbon steel or stainless steel
  • Versions: PPTS-K carbon steel, PPTSS-K stainless steel
  • Connections: EN 1092-1 PN16, ASME B16.5 Class 150, or ISO 7 Rp / NPT
  • Max operating pressure: 10 bar
  • Max operating temperature: 185 °C
  • PED: Group 2, PN16, Category 2, CE marked

Unit Equipment

The PPT-K includes a PPT14 pump trap, receiver, RD40 check valve, IS140 Y-strainer, CTS4U trapping station with UTS22 thermostatic steam trap, M3i5 valve, RT25 check valve, TH13A thermostatic steam trap/air vent, and a metal frame.

Applications

  • Heat exchangers with modulating steam valve
  • HVAC heating coils
  • Jacketed vessels
  • Processes with variable backpressure
  • Closed condensate returns requiring drainage without flooding

Selection Criteria

Selection is based on condensate flow rate, motive steam pressure, backpressure, lift height, filling head, temperature, and construction material. For flows exceeding one unit, two or more PPT-K units can be connected in parallel.
