NORIS Disc Filter Bauform 146

The NORIS Bauform 146 is a disc-type solid retention filter, classified as a slice screen strainer, designed for installation between flanges. It is primarily used as a commissioning filter following construction, welding, or pipeline cleaning activities, and is positioned upstream of flowmeters, control valves, pumps, and sensitive assemblies to prevent ingress of debris.

Construction

  • Clamping ring: WN 1.4571 (stainless steel).
  • Screen: WN 1.4401 (stainless steel).
  • Custom mesh openings available on request.
  • Installation only in flanged connections.
  • Nominal pressure: up to 16 bar.

Dimensions

Available for DN15 to DN250. Outer diameter ØA ranges from 45 mm to 320 mm; thickness b is 7 ±1 mm. Example manufacturer specification: Bauform 146, stainless steel, mesh 1.0 mm, DN50 PN16.

Selection and Operation

Selection is based on DN, PN, mesh opening, permissible pressure drop, and anticipated particle load during commissioning. Not a substitute for a permanent Y-strainer where frequent cleaning is required without flange disassembly. In pump lines, monitor differential pressure, as a blocked screen can reduce available NPSH.

Applications

  • Temporary protection during commissioning phases,
  • water, condensate, or compatible industrial fluids,
  • protection of downstream equipment from rust, weld slag, and particulates,
  • installation upstream of instrumentation and control valves.

FAQ

Actuator compatibility?
No. This is a passive filter; actuator integration is not applicable.

Suitable for permanent installation?
May remain in-line, but for frequent maintenance, a strainer with body and removable cover is recommended.

Temperature rating specified?
Technical documentation confirms pressure rating up to 16 bar; no explicit temperature limit stated.
