Y-Type Welded Strainers Blu Zac FYWE

Blu Zac FYWE strainers are welded Y-type filters designed for permanent installation in liquid or gas pipelines. They are typically installed upstream of pumps, control valves, flow meters, steam traps, and heat exchangers to retain solid particles before they reach downstream equipment. Suitable for water, seawater, hydrocarbons, air, gases, and chemical products, subject to material compatibility verification.

Connections and Design

Available with butt weld (BW) ends per ANSI B16.25 or flanged ends per ANSI B16.5. Design and fabrication follow ASME VIII Div.1, with adaptation possible to other pressure vessel or piping codes (e.g., ASME B31.3).

Materials and Strainer Basket

Body materials: ASTM A106 Gr.B, ASTM A333 Gr.6, ASTM A312 TP304, or ASTM A312 TP316. Flanges: ASTM A105, A350 LF2, A182 F304, or A182 F316. Strainer basket: AISI 304 or AISI 316. Gasket: spiral wound graphite / W-316. Open filtering area exceeds 200% of inlet cross-section.

Drain and Maintenance

Drain options: NPT-F, bevel/plain end, or flanged with blind. Maintenance is annual or when pressure drop exceeds specified limits. Monthly inspection recommended: line isolation, cover removal, basket cleaning/inspection, body cleaning, and gasket replacement prior to restart.

Is actuator installation possible?
No. This is a passive in-line filter.

When to select welded vs. cast Y-strainer?
Specify welded construction for custom dimensions, special piping codes, or configurations not available in standard cast bodies.

Description

The Y filter is the most common and economical type of filter for permanent fluid or gas applications. Thanks to its compact construction, its light weight and its easy access for rapid cleaning, it is used for many generally standard system applications.

Permanent filter, straight line, suitable for filtering fluids in either the liquid state (water, seawater, petroleum and its derivatives) or the gaseous state (gas, air, chemical products) through a perforated plate filter element placed perpendicular to the direction of flow.

Obtained from a welded Y-joint, it ensures a large surface area for flow and thus offers a high filtration capacity with a low loss of capacity even at high speeds.

The standard equipment includes a screen suitable for high pressures, which is easy to maintain and replace and capable of filtration of more than 200% of the inlet area.
