NORIS Model 912-S – High-Pressure Flow Indicator with Welded Ends

The NORIS 912-S is a dual-sided flow indicator from the 912 series, designed for visual inspection of liquids and gases in high-pressure lines. Butt weld connections are selected when piping does not accommodate flanges or when a permanent welded integration into the line is required. The 912 series supports both horizontal and vertical installation.

Operating Conditions

• Operating Pressure: up to 160 bar
• Temperature with borosilicate glass: up to 280 °C
• Temperature with quartz glass: up to 500 °C
• Connection: butt weld ends
• Alternative series connections: DIN flanges up to PN160, ANSI flanges up to 1500 lbs, female-threaded
• Construction length: depends on operating pressure and nominal diameter

Materials and Construction Selection

The technical sheet specifies that all weldable materials can be used. In practice, material selection should align with piping material, welding process, fluid, corrosion, temperature, and project certification requirements.

Application Scope

The 912-S is utilized when standard indicators PN16–PN40 are insufficient. Typical uses include high-pressure gas lines, hot liquids, chemical processes, high-temperature auxiliary circuits, and points requiring local confirmation of filling, bubbles, or flow presence.

Difference from 912 and 912-A

The basic 912 can be configured with DIN, ANSI, threaded, or welded connections. The 912-A pertains to ANSI flanges. The 912-S is selected when piping specifications require welded ends rather than detachable flanged connections.

Options and Certifications

Available options include a heating jacket and observation light. Optional certifications include EN 10204 type 2.2 or 3.1. This is not a flow measurement instrument and does not accept an actuator.
