Cla-Val 131-22 / 631-22 – Electronic Interface Control Valve

Cla-Val 131-22 and 631-22 are hydraulically actuated diaphragm valves with pilot control and electronic interface. Open/close operation is achieved via two solenoid pilots that charge or vent the cover chamber of the main valve. This configuration enables remote or automated process control integration.

Control Operation

The valve can be paired with the VC-22D controller, which receives a process variable signal and compares it to a set point. Valve position is modulated to control flow, pressure, or level. In the event of power loss, the system is fail-close by default.

Applications

  • tank filling operations
  • pressure control in water distribution networks
  • pressure reducing or pressure sustaining
  • flow regulation
  • level control
  • remote operation via SCADA
  • combined electric and hydraulic control for dual-function or fail-safe operation

Construction and Selection

The 131-22 is based on the 100-01 full port main valve. The 631-22 uses the reduced port 100-20 body, suitable for applications requiring different hydraulic characteristics or sizing relative to nominal line diameter.

Available options:

  • connections: flanged, threaded, or grooved depending on size
  • pressure class: ANSI Class 150 / 300
  • body: ductile iron ASTM A536, cast steel ASTM A216 WCB, bronze UNS 87850
  • elastomers: Buna-N disc, reinforced Buna-N diaphragm
  • trim: bronze standard, stainless steel optional
  • 131-22 sizes: 25–900 mm

Optional Equipment

  • X117 position transmitter
  • X141 pressure gauge
  • X46A flow clean strainer
  • X43 Y-strainer
  • flow control for open/close speed
  • check feature with isolation valve
  • independent operating pressure

Description

Cla-Val 131-22/631-22 Electronic Interface Control Valves are designed specifically for applications where remote control of the valve is preferred. It is a hydraulically operated, pilot controlled, diaphragm valve. The solenoid pilot controls are actuated by electrical signals from the optional VC-22D Electronic Valve Controller. The solenoid pilots either add or relieve line pressure from the cover chamber of the valve, causing it to open or close as directed by the electronic controller, making it ideal for reservoir filling operations.

131-22/631-22 Electronic Control Valves can be configured to perform a wide range of functions, such as; pressure reducing, pressure sustaining, flow control or level control. The electric controls can also be combined with hydraulic controls to create dual function or fail-safe capability.
