WEY W Knife Gate Valve – Heavy-Duty Full-Flange Design

The WEY W series is a bidirectional full-flange isolation valve for high differential pressures and abrasive or corrosive process media. The gate is guided throughout its travel and mechanically supported in the closed position. The body geometry directs solids away from the guide areas and back into the flow passage.

Technical Data

  • Nominal sizes: DN50–DN1400

  • Operating pressure: up to 50 bar, depending on model and DN

  • Flange connections: ASME Class 150 or Class 300

  • Face-to-face dimensions: MSS-SP135, short or long pattern

  • Body materials: Ni-Resist, ductile Ni-Resist, carbon steel or stainless steel

  • Gate material: heat-treated 17-4 PH stainless steel

  • Seat seals: GFLT or Aflas, depending on medium and temperature

  • Replaceable wear rings: Ni-Hard, tool steel or ceramic

The mechanically retained seat limits displacement under high flow velocity and solids loading. The transverse sealing arrangement includes gate scrapers and can be readjusted through lateral compression screws while the valve remains installed.

Actuator Options

  • Handwheel

  • Bevel gearbox

  • Pneumatic cylinder

  • Hydraulic cylinder

  • Electric actuator

Actuator thrust is determined by nominal diameter, differential pressure, solids concentration, friction conditions and required operating time.

Applications

Mining slurry, tailings, process water, mineral concentrates, oil sands and pipelines exposed to severe abrasion. Carbide or polyurethane internal coatings may be specified according to particle size and wear rate.

FAQ

What is the difference between W0, W1, W2 and W3?
W0 and W1 use Class 150 flange drilling, while W2 and W3 use Class 300 drilling. Allowable isolation pressure depends on DN, actuator and face-to-face configuration.

How is the valve construction selected?
Selection requires operating pressure, temperature, solids concentration, particle size, corrosiveness, cycle frequency and required fail position.

Description

Whether an application is referred to as “severe service”, “high performance”, or “heavy duty”, we have overcome the corresponding challenges with our Wey design. We pushed it to the limit, and the result is the W series. It offers the greatest flexibility, including for the range of nominal sizes, materials, and pressures. It opens up an incredible scope of application. With the W series, we guarantee that we will outperform the competition, no matter what the situation.
