WEY SG Knife Gate Valve – Heavy-Duty O-Port Design
The WEY SG series is a full-flanged isolation valve for media containing high solids concentrations, long fibres or compacting material. Its through-going O-Port gate cuts across the static media column during closing. The four-column actuator frame absorbs the increased axial loads generated during operation.
Technical Data
-
Nominal sizes: DN50–DN650
-
Operating pressure: up to 10 bar, depending on size and actuator
-
Isolation pressure: 150 psi for 2″–12″ and 90 psi for 14″–24″
-
Flange connections: ASME Class 150
-
Face-to-face dimension: MSS-SP81 or TAPPI
-
Body material: cast Ni-Resist
-
Gate material: hardened 440 stainless steel
-
Seat materials: hardened 410 stainless steel and Aflas
-
Optional V-Port gate for defined flow characteristics
The metallic seat and hardened gate are used where abrasive solids or fibre content make conventional soft-seat arrangements unsuitable. The transverse sealing system controls leakage to atmosphere.
Actuator Options
-
Handwheel
-
Bevel gearbox
-
Pneumatic cylinder
-
Hydraulic cylinder
-
Electric actuator
Actuator sizing depends on nominal diameter, differential pressure, solids concentration and material compaction.
Applications
Biogas plants, biomass handling, wood chips, fibrous residues, thick suspensions and conveying lines containing compacting solids.
FAQ
What is the difference between the SG and DP series?
The SG uses a full-flanged ASME configuration, metallic seating and a reinforced operating frame for higher mechanical loads.
Is it suitable for throttling?
The standard O-Port version is intended for isolation. Partial flow control requires a V-Port gate and suitable actuator positioning.
