WEY MG Knife Gate Valve – PN16 Service

The WEY MG series is a bidirectional isolation valve for liquids, sludge, slurry, powders and granular media. It retains the compact EN 558 Series 20 face-to-face dimension while covering operating pressures up to 16 bar. The gate is guided throughout its travel and mechanically supported in the closed position.

Technical Data

  • Nominal sizes: DN50–DN800

  • Operating pressure: up to 16 bar, depending on DN and actuator

  • Flange connections: PN10, PN16, ASME Class 150, BS10-D/E or AS2129-D/E

  • Face-to-face dimension: EN 558 / ISO 5752, Series 20

  • Leakage test: EN 12266-1, Leakage Rate A

  • Body materials: EN-GJS-400-15 or stainless steel 1.4408

  • Gate materials: stainless steel 1.4301, 1.4404 or 1.4462

  • Seat seals: NBR; EPDM, FKM or PTFE options

The body geometry directs deposits back into the flow during opening. The transverse seal limits leakage to atmosphere and can be readjusted through lateral compression screws without removing the valve. Adjustment must be applied evenly to prevent excessive gate friction.

Actuator Options

  • MGA: handwheel or bevel gearbox

  • MGC: double-acting pneumatic cylinder, 6–8 bar

  • MGE: electric actuator

  • MGH: hydraulic cylinder

Applications

Mining slurry, tailings, wastewater, sludge, biogas, pulp, chemical effluent, viscous products, seawater and pneumatic conveying systems.

FAQ

What is the difference between the MG and MF series?
The MG is designed for pressures up to 16 bar, while the MF normally covers applications up to 10 bar.

Can it be installed as an end-of-line valve?
Yes, subject to the applicable PED classification and the reduced allowable pressure specified for end-of-line service.

Description

Knife gate valves with an EN 558/ISO 5752 20 series face to face often quickly reach their pressure limit values of 10 bar – but not our MG series. For the same face to face, it is generally designed for pressures of up to 16 bar. Of course, we retained the many design features that have always set the Wey knife gate valve apart from the competition.

The robust metal yoke enables the optimal, simple assembly of mechanical or inductive limit switches. The yoke can be removed from one side. This makes it easier to access the mechanical parts.

Most known pipe-cleaning methods (e.g., pigs, brush cylinders, etc.) can be used with the body bore, resulting in minimal pressure drops.

The robust metal yoke enables the optimal, simple assembly of mechanical or inductive limit switches. The yoke can be removed from one side. This makes it easier to access the mechanical parts.

With its optimized gate geometry, accumulated media is pushed out of the gate guide and flushed out into the bore by the increased flow.

The robust metal yoke enables the optimal, simple assembly of mechanical or inductive limit switches. The yoke can be removed from one side. This makes it easier to access the mechanical parts.

The gate is mechanically guided over the full stroke.

A unique transverse seal, consisting of a transverse seal profile and packing compound, makes the body bubble-tight towards the atmosphere.

The robust metal yoke enables the optimal, simple assembly of mechanical or inductive limit switches. The yoke can be removed from one side. This makes it easier to access the mechanical parts.

The transverse seal can be repacked at any time and under full pressure using the lateral packing screws.

A mechanically retained round cord seal creates a bubble-tight shut off on the gate edge.
