The OMC PC18 is a two-wire field-mounted electro-pneumatic converter designed to convert a DC electrical signal into a proportional pneumatic output up to 8 bar. It is intended for pneumatic actuators requiring higher control pressures, where standard 3–15 psi ranges are insufficient for process requirements.
The PC18 is installed between a PLC, DCS, or electronic controller and a pneumatic valve actuator. It is used in flow, pressure, temperature, or level control applications where the actuator requires a higher operating pressure than what PC13/PC15 models provide.
Standard version features a cast aluminum body with anti-corrosive coating and polycarbonate cover. The PC18.1 variant is certified for intrinsic safety ATEX II 1G Ex ia IIC T6/T5 Ga and must be powered via a certified circuit per EN 60079.
Mounts on 35 mm DIN rail. Vertical installation with electrical connection upwards minimizes zero drift. Instrument air must be clean and dry, with a filter-regulator (≤25 μm) upstream of the device.
When is PC18 selected over PC15?
When the actuator requires a control signal in bar rather than low-range psi.
Is output range adjustable?
Yes. Span is set using a 20 mA input and monitoring output pressure with a gauge.
