Variable Area Flowmeter Tecfluid SC250

The Tecfluid SC250 is a variable area flowmeter designed for measurement of liquids, gases, and steam. Flow displaces a float within a measuring tube; float position is transmitted to the indicator via magnetic coupling. Scale can be specified in l/h, m³/h, kg/h, t/h, or %.

Operating Ranges

  • Water: 2.5 l/h to 180 m³/h
  • Air: 75 Nl/h to 5400 Nm³/h
  • Accuracy SC250 / SC250H / SC250V: 2.5% per VDI/VDE 3513 sheet 2, optionally 1.6%
  • Turndown ratio: 10:1
  • Viscosity for standard SC250: up to approx. 10 mPa·s, depending on flow rate

Materials, Pressure, Temperature

Available in EN 1.4404 / AISI 316L, PVC, PP, PTFE, titanium, or Hastelloy C. For AISI 316L: PN40 DN15–DN50, PN16 DN65–DN150. Fluid temperature: -50…+300 °C (AISI 316L), 0…+50 °C (PVC), -20…+150 °C (PTFE), -20…+90 °C (PP). With EN 1.4404 thermal spacer: -200…+400 °C possible.

  • SC250 / SM250: vertical installation, upward flow
  • SC250V: vertical, upward or downward flow, with return spring
  • SC250H: horizontal installation, left–right or right–left
  • SM250: for higher viscosity liquids
  • Connections: EN 1092-1 or ASME B16.5 DN15–DN150, BSP/NPT, ISO 2852, SMS 1145, DIN 11851, TRI-CLAMP®

Outputs and Automation

Available with micro-switches AMM, inductive switches AMD NAMUR EN 60947-5-6, transmitters TH7 / TH7H / TH7T / TH7TH with 4–20 mA, HART, pulse output, alarm, and totalizer. ATEX / IECEx Ex ia versions for hazardous areas.

Installation and Maintenance

Installation position must match model and flow direction as per nameplate. Deviation of approx. can cause 8–10% error. Upstream filtration ≤ 2 mm recommended; magnetic filter for ferrous particles. Straight pipe: 5 × DN upstream, 3 × DN downstream.

Applications

Used in steam lines, burner gas, thermal fluid circuits, chemical processes, food & beverage (hygienic connections), and locations requiring local indication with limit contacts or analog output.
