Cla-Val Models 136-03 and 636-03 Solenoid Control Valves are on-off control valves which either opens fully or closes drip-tight upon receiving an electrical signal to the solenoid pilot control. The valve consists of a Hytrol main valve, a three way solenoid and a high capacity three-way pilot valve. The solenoid control operates the three-way valve which alternately applies pressure to or relieves pressure from the diaphragm chamber of the main valve. It is furnished either normally open (de-energize solenoid to open) or normally closed (energize solenoid to open).
Cla-Val 136-03 / 636-03 Electromagnetic On-Off Valve
The Cla-Val 136-03 / 636-03 is a hydraulically actuated control valve for water, featuring a Hytrol main valve, a three-way solenoid pilot, and a high-capacity pilot valve. It operates as an on-off valve: the main valve fully opens or closes in response to an electrical signal at the solenoid pilot.
Operating Principle
The solenoid actuates the three-way pilot valve, which alternates pressure in the diaphragm chamber of the main valve. Two logic options are available:
- Normally open: de-energize solenoid to open
- Normally closed: energize solenoid to open
Technical Data
- Operation: full open / tight shut-off
- Connection: flanged
- Standard: ANSI
- Pressure class: 150 lbs or 300 lbs
- Body materials: brass, ASTM A216 WCB, ductile iron
- Suitable media: potable water or industrial process water
Applications
- Remote open/close via PLC or SCADA
- Tank filling and batching
- Flow shut-off in water supply or irrigation lines
- Level automation with electrical command
- Applications requiring higher pilot flow than standard solenoid assemblies
Difference from 136-01
The 136-03 / 636-03 includes a high-capacity three-way pilot valve in addition to the solenoid. This enables faster hydraulic response of the main valve, especially for larger DN or where open/close time must be functionally controlled.
FAQ
Is this a modulating valve?
No. It is an on-off valve, not a proportional control valve.
What data is required for selection?
DN, inlet/outlet pressure, flow rate, solenoid voltage, fail position, and pressure class.
