KITO G 26.2 N – Bidirectional In-line Detonation Flame Arrester

The KITO® RG-Det4-IIA-…-4.5 / -4.5-T / -TT is a threaded in-line flame arrester designed for the protection of vessels and equipment against stable detonation in piping systems conveying flammable gases, vapors, or volatile liquids that may form explosive atmospheres. The protection function is bidirectional. The unit is tested and certified as a detonation flame arrester type 4.

Operating Limits

  • Explosion groups: IIA1 to IIA
  • MESG: > 0.9 mm
  • Max operating pressure: 4.5 bar abs.
  • Max operating temperature: 60 °C
  • Endurance burn resistance: BT ≤ 1.0 min
  • Installation: horizontal or vertical piping

Connections and Thermal Monitoring

Available with threaded connections G 1/8", G 1/4", G 3/8", G 1/2", G 3/4", G 1". Variants -T and -TT include a PT100 temperature sensor, 1/4" connection, stainless steel 1.4571. PT100 is not available for G 1/8" to G 3/8" sizes. For stabilized burning detection, a sensor is required on each side exposed to potential flame.

Materials and Sealing

Standard construction:

  • Body: carbon steel
  • Gasket: HD 3822
  • KITO element: fully replaceable
  • Shell / mesh: 1.4301 / 1.4310
  • Bolts / nuts: A2

Optional: body 1.4571, gasket PTFE, shell/mesh 1.4571 / 1.4571, bolts A4.

Application Selection

The G 26.2 N differs from G 26 N and G 26.0 N mainly by its higher operating pressure 4.5 bar abs. and burn time limit BT ≤ 1.0 min. Selection should consider explosion group, MESG, flow rate, pressure drop, gas density, temperature, gasket material, and PT100 requirement. Flow curves are based on air ρ = 1.29 kg/m³ at 273 K.

FAQ

Description

KITO® RG-Det4-IIA-…-4.5

KITO® RG-Det4-IIA-…-4.5-T (-TT)

  • For installation into pipes to the protection of vessels and components against stable detonation of flammable liquids and gases.
  • Tested and approved as detonation flame arrester type 4.
  • Approved for all substances of explosion groups IIA1 to IIA with a maximum experimental safe gap (MESG) > 0.9 mm.
  • Bi-directionally working in pipes, whereby an operating pressure of 4.5 bar abs. and an operating temperature of 60 °C must not be exceeded.
  • All sizes are tested against “stabilized burning” and withstand this up to a max. burn time BT ≤ 1.0 min.
  • To detect a “stabilized burning” a temperature sensor must be installed at each endangered side.
  • Mounting is acceptable in any position, in horizontal as well as in vertical pipes.
