KITO G 26.0 N – Bidirectional In-Line Detonation Flame Arrester

The KITO® RG-Det4-IIA-…-1.2 / -T / -TT is a flanged in-line detonation flame arrester designed for the protection of vessels and equipment against stable detonation in piping systems conveying flammable gases, vapors, or liquids capable of forming explosive atmospheres. Tested and certified as a detonation flame arrester type 4.

Operating Limits

  • Explosion groups: IIA1 to IIA
  • MESG: > 0.9 mm
  • Max. operating pressure: 1.2 bar abs.
  • Max. operating temperature: 60 °C
  • Endurance burning resistance: BT ≤ 30 min
  • Installation: horizontal or vertical piping

Connections and Construction

Available with flanged connections from DN 15 to DN 50, with PN 40 up to DN 40 and PN 16 at DN 50. Standard flange: EN 1092-1 type B1, optional ASME B16.5 Class 150 RF.

Materials:

  • Body: carbon steel or stainless 1.4571
  • Gasket: HD 3822 or PTFE
  • KITO element: fully replaceable
  • Shell / mesh: 1.4301 / 1.4310 or 1.4571 / 1.4571
  • Bolts / nuts: A2 or A4

Thermal Monitoring

Variants -T and -TT are equipped with PT100 sensors, 1/4" connection, material 1.4571. For stabilized burning detection, a sensor is required on each side exposed to potential flame.

Application Selection

Selection is based on explosion group, MESG, DN, pressure drop, gas density, and thermal monitoring requirements. Flow curves are provided for air ρ = 1.29 kg/m³ at 273 K; correction is required for other gases.

FAQ

Description

KITO® RG-Det4-IIA-…-1.2

KITO® RG-Det4-IIA-…-1.2-T (-TT)

– design with flange connection-

  • For installation into pipes to the protection of vessels and components against stable detonation of flammable liquids and gases.
  • Tested and approved as detonation flame arrester type 4.
  • Approved for all substances of explosion groups IIA1 to IIA with a maximum experimental safe gap (MESG) > 0.9 mm.
  • Bi-directionally working in pipes, whereby an operating pressure of 1.2 bar abs. and an operating temperature of 60 °C must not be exceeded.
  • All sizes are tested against “stabilized burning” and withstand this up to a max. burn time BT ≤ 30.0 min.
  • To detect a “stabilized burning” a temperature sensor must be installed at each endangered side.
  • Mounting is acceptable in any position, in horizontal as well as in vertical pipes.
