Rubber Lined Dual Plate & Ball Check Valve | Cast Flow

Cast Flow Rubber Lined – Rubber Lined Check Valve

The Cast Flow Rubber Lined series includes ball check, dual plate, and retainerless dual plate variants with internal rubber lining. This construction is specified where corrosion or abrasion resistance is required via lining rather than full alloy body. Operation is automatic, actuated by differential pressure, with no external actuator required.

Range and Construction

  • Ball check: flanged, DN100 to DN600.
  • Dual plate: DN250 to DN1400, depending on design.
  • Retainerless dual plate: DN350 to DN500.
  • Rubber lined dual plate series is for low pressure, up to PN10. Other sizes or pressure classes available on request.

The body is internally lined with rubber, similar to butterfly valve encircling liners. In dual plate types, shafts do not rotate as in butterfly valves, so shaft passage sealing remains static, reducing leakage risk.

Media and Applications

Suitable for mining, seawater, purification systems, and chemical lines, provided the selected rubber lining is compatible with the process fluid, temperature, and concentration. Commonly used in pump stations for reverse flow protection and to reduce wear in abrasive media.

Selection Considerations

Selection is not based solely on DN. Required data: flow rate, pressure, temperature, solids content, pH, chloride concentration, and allowable pressure drop. For transient conditions in pumping systems, Cast Flow offers perforated discs to dissipate downstream pressure surges.

FAQ

When is rubber lining selected over duplex/superduplex?
When the lining provides sufficient chemical or abrasive resistance and a full alloy body is not required.

Is it suitable for high pressure?
Not as a standard rubber lined option; technical documentation specifies PN10 for this family.

Description

DESIGN FEATURES

Ball check rubber lined with anti abrasive rubbers for mining industries application. The rubber lined dual plate check valves are a cheaper alternative to other alloyed materials which are resistant to corrosive applications. Available in several types of rubber.

Castflow valves is producing the dual plate check valve with the same system that applies the butterfly valve with encircling liner. Meaning the body internally coated with rubber.

SPECIAL ALLOYS

Over the years the most frequent used materials on the desalination market have been the so called “Superstainless” or “ superaustenitic”, which anti corrosive properties are superior to austenitic steels.

Due to the price increment on the prime materials and as an alternative more competitive for these materials, Duplex and Superduplex of second generation have been introduced in the market of desalination.

The family of Duplex and Super duplex Stainless steels offer a significant advantage over Standard austinic steels.

The 50/50 ferrite /austenite structure gives improved corrosion and abrasion resistance together with improved tensile and yield properties.

Duplex Composition range is obtained by a complex structure, and therefore requires a much greater degree of technology, melting and process control compared with austenitic stainless steel constructions.

CASTFLOW VALVES S.L. has been experiencing the production of check valves in Duplex stainless steel for the last years, increasing our knowledge on the complex casting technology.

PITTING RESISTANCE EQUIVALENT NUMBER (PREN)

The resistance to pitting of an alloy is of vital importance , particularly so in handling seawater. Assessment of resistance to pitting is often made by use of a pitting resistance equivalent number which, when this takes account of Cr Mo and N is referred to as a PREn Number.

Calculation is made on the basis of the following.

PREN= %Cr+ 3.3%Mo16%N

PREN-768x489
