Dual Plate Check Valves | Cast Flow

Cast Flow Dual Plate – Dual Plate Check Valve

The Cast Flow Dual Plate is a spring-loaded check valve, available in wafer or flanged design, engineered to prevent reverse flow in liquid or gas pipelines. The two plates open under differential pressure and close via springs, without external actuators. Typical applications include pump stations, potable water networks, filtered irrigation, fire protection, air compressors, and desalination systems.

Materials and Seat Options

Body materials include EN-GJL-250, EN-GJS-400-15, WCB / A216, stainless steel, duplex/superduplex, and bronze-aluminium. Standard discs: EN-GJS-400-15 or WCB. Shaft: AISI 304. Springs: AISI 302. Standard seat: Buna-N / NBR. Optional seats: EPDM, Viton, Neoprene, Klingerit, or metal-to-metal, selected per media and temperature.

Installation Guidelines

Recommended flow velocity for standard springs: 2.5–4 m/s. Outside this range, alternative spring torques are required. For vertical flow and DN200+, low- or high-torque springs may be necessary depending on flow direction. Not recommended for pulsating flow.

Do not install immediately downstream of pumps, elbows, or reducers. Maintain 5×DN upstream and 2×DN downstream of flow disturbances for pressure recovery.

FAQ

When is a rubber-lined version selected?
For low pressures up to PN10 and large diameters, when internal elastomer lining is required instead of full alloy construction.

Are there options for water hammer mitigation?
Yes, perforated plates are available for use with surge protection vessels in pumping systems.

SPECIAL ALLOYS

Over the years the most frequent used materials on the desalination market have been the so called “Superstainless” or “ superaustenitic”, which anti corrosive properties are superior to austenitic steels.

Due to the price increment on the prime materials and as an alternative more competitive for these materials, Duplex and Superduplex of second generation have been introduced in the market of desalination.

The family of Duplex and Super duplex Stainless steels offer a significant advantage over Standard austinic steels.

The 50/50 ferrite /austenite structure gives improved corrosion and abrasion resistance together with improved tensile and yield properties.

Duplex Composition range is obtained by a complex structure, and therefore requires a much greater degree of technology, melting and process control compared with austenitic stainless steel constructions.

CASTFLOW VALVES S.L. has been experiencing the production of check valves in Duplex stainless steel for the last years, increasing our knowledge on the complex casting technology.

PITTING RESISTANCE EQUIVALENT NUMBER (PREN)

The resistance to pitting of an alloy is of vital importance , particularly so in handling seawater. Assessment of resistance to pitting is often made by use of a pitting resistance equivalent number which, when this takes account of Cr Mo and N is referred to as a PREn Number.

Calculation is made on the basis of the following.

PREN= %Cr+ 3.3%Mo16%N

PREN-768x489
