Disc
Disc-spring check valves are used to prevent reverse flow in water, steam, condensate, technical gas, compressed air, and industrial liquid systems. Operation is based on a disc that opens under the differential pressure of forward flow and returns to the seat by spring force when flow rate decreases or reverses. This category includes wafer and flanged designs such as ARI CHECKO D, Gestra RK, AWS, Genebre, Brandoni W6, Mei DCEL, and Cla-Val 580.
Valve selection should be based on the process medium, flow rate, allowable pressure drop, cracking pressure, installation position, operating temperature, design pressure, seat material, and the risk of hydraulic shock. Spring-assisted closure provides faster shut-off than conventional swing check arrangements and can reduce slam effects in pump stations, HVAC circuits, cooling lines, steam systems, and general industrial piping. In steam service, line drainage, seat type compatibility (metal or soft seat), seat leakage class, and horizontal or vertical installation constraints should be checked.
Available configurations include DIN and ANSI pressure classes, with nominal ratings from PN6 to PN160 and Class 125 to 900 depending on the series. End connections are primarily wafer and flanged. Body and trim materials include brass, cast iron, ductile iron, EN-GJS-400-18-LT, 1.0619, 1.4404, 1.4408, ASTM A216 WCB, ASTM A351 CF8M, AISI 316, super duplex, C954 aluminium bronze, PVC, PP, and PVDF. For ARI CHECKO D, published data includes stainless steel body material 1.4408, PN40 rating, metal seating or optional soft seat, and leakage Class C or Class A to DIN EN 12266-1 depending on seat design.
