The PPT14 is an automatic pump-trap designed for condensate drainage in heat exchangers, heating coils, heated vessels, and steam units where stall conditions may occur. It combines a float steam trap and a pressure pump in one unit: when sufficient differential pressure is present, it operates as a steam trap, while when steam pressure falls below backpressure, the pumping function is activated using external motive steam.
In pump mode, with a filling head of 300 mm, capacity depends on motive steam pressure and total backpressure. Selection tables indicate up to 1830 kg/h for DN 50 x 40 at low backpressure. In trap mode, capacity reaches up to 6200 kg/h for DN 40 x 25 and up to 10100 kg/h for DN 50 x 40, depending on differential pressure.
Internal operating parts are stainless steel, springs are Inconel, and gaskets are stainless/graphite. Inlet and outlet check valves are A351 CF8M / 1.4408. These components are critical for wear, sealing, and repairability in hot condensate networks.
When is PPT14 chosen over a simple steam trap?
When load and control pressure create a stall possibility and the steam trap cannot always evacuate the condensate.
Does it require electrical power?
No. The pumping function is driven by saturated motive steam.
