Hafner ATEX Coils for Pneumatic Solenoid Valves
Hafner ATEX-certified coils are specified for use in solenoid valves installed within hazardous areas where explosive atmospheres may occur. Selection must be based on the installation zone classification, protection method, supply voltage, power consumption, and compatibility with the valve body. Mechanical fit alone is insufficient for compliance.
Available Series
- MA 22 EEx m II T4: 24 V DC, 110 V AC, or 230 V AC; 3000 mm cable; 5 W DC, 4.5 VA or 5.1 VA AC.
- MA 30 Ex ia tD II CT6: 24 V DC; Form A (DIN EN 175301-803); 0.47–1.6 W; for intrinsically safe circuits.
- MA 52 EEx e mb IIC T6: 24 V DC, 110 V AC, or 230 V AC; junction box connection; 4.8 W or 4.4–4.8 VA.
- MH 52 Ex d / MH 52 VES Ex d: 24 V DC, 110 V AC, or 230 V AC; 2 W / 3 VA; M20x1.5 or 1/2” NPT entry; IP67 ingress protection.
Protection Types
Available protection concepts include EEx m II T4, EEx ia IIC T6, EEx e mb IIC T6, EEx dm IIC T5, and EEx d IIC T6. Selection must be validated against the ATEX risk assessment for the installation, not solely by voltage rating.
Connectors
For MA 30, the ST 30 Ex ia connector (Form A, DIN EN 175301-803, 0–250 V, 10 A) is available. Note: This connector is not individually certified and must be considered as part of the certified system.

- Zone and gas/dust group classification
- Temperature class: T4, T5, or T6
- Supply voltage: 24 V DC, 110 V AC, or 230 V AC
- Connection type: cable, Form A, junction box, M20, or NPT
- Power consumption relative to PLC output or barrier
- Compatibility with specific Hafner valve models
Maintenance
In ATEX installations, coil replacement is permitted only with an equivalent certified type. Inspection should include wiring, grounding (where required), cable entry sealing, thermal stress, contact oxidation, and verification of correct voltage at the coil terminals.
