Ball Float and Thermostatic

Float steam traps are used in industrial steam systems for continuous condensate removal, operating on liquid level rather than on temperature cycling. The float mechanically actuates the discharge valve as condensate level rises, while the thermostatic air vent removes air and other non-condensable gases during start-up. This category includes ARI CONA S, CONA SC / SC Plus, CONA P pump trap units, Gestra UNA, BLU ZAC BF, and Mankenberg KA Niagara series.

Float trap selection is based on condensate load, differential pressure, return line back pressure, maximum operating temperature, installation position, and venting requirement. In heat exchangers, heating coils, steam chambers, manifolds, and processes with variable load, continuous discharge limits condensate retention and reduces the risk of water hammer. Where differential pressure is low or negative, where condensate must be lifted to an overhead return header, or where return back pressure is high, float-operated pump trap versions should be considered.

Available configurations include DIN and ANSI pressure ratings, with classes from PN16 up to PN160 and ANSI Class 600 / 900 depending on manufacturer and series. End connections include BSP, NPT, flanged, socket weld, butt weld, and union-weld ends, with reference to EN 1092-1/-2, EN 10226-1, ANSI B1.20.1, EN 12760, and EN ISO 9692. Body materials include cast iron, ductile iron, carbon steel, stainless steel, and elevated-temperature alloys such as 16Mo3 and 13CrMo4-5. Selection should also consider corrosion allowance, steam and condensate chemistry, maintainability of internals, air-binding behaviour, and shut-off tightness under varying load conditions.

Float & thermostatic steam trap - CONA SC / SC Plus | ARI
ARI CONA SC / SC Plus Float Steam Trap The ARI CONA SC is a float steam trap equipped with a thermostatic air vent capsule, designed for condensate removal from saturated steam networks, heat exchangers, heating elements, low/medium pressure steam boilers, and distribution lines. Discharge occurs immediately based on condensate level without requiring...

Float & thermostatic steam trap - CONA S | ARI

Float & thermostatic steam trap - CONA S | ARI
ARI CONA S Float Steam Trap The ARI CONA S is a mechanical float steam trap designed for continuous condensate removal from industrial steam networks. The float regulates condensate levels, while the integrated bimetallic element opens during startup to remove air and non-condensable gases; control is transferred to the float mechanism above 90 °C....

Float operated pump trap - CONA P | ARI

Float operated pump trap - CONA P | ARI
ARI CONA P – Float Steam Trap with Pump Functionality The ARI CONA P is a PN16 float steam trap with integrated mechanical condensate pump functionality. It is used in heat exchangers and closed vessels where differential pressure is not consistently positive, such as in low steam pressure operations, variable loads, or vacuum conditions. When the inlet...

Ball float steam trap - UNA | Gestra

Ball float steam trap - UNA | Gestra
GESTRA UNA 38 Float Steam Trap The GESTRA UNA in PN100 configuration is a float steam trap designed for high-pressure applications, featuring a 1.5415 body and needle seat mechanism. Operation is based on condensate level: the float opens the rolling valve, with flow dependent on orifice size and available differential pressure. Technical Specifications...

Ball float steam trap with pump function - UNA | Gestra

Ball float steam trap with pump function - UNA | Gestra
GESTRA UNA 25-PK / UNA 25-PS with Pump Functionality The GESTRA UNA 25-PK / UNA 25-PS is a PN40, DN40 unit designed for condensate removal from steam systems using motive steam. It is utilized when the pressure at the outlet of a heat exchanger or heating element falls below the backpressure of the return line, and a simple steam trap cannot evacuate....

Steam Traps - Ball Float - BF | BLU ZAC

Steam Traps - Ball Float - BF | BLU ZAC
Float Steam Trap BLU ZAC BF The BLU ZAC BF is a welded body float steam trap designed for condensate drainage in steam lines and project-specific applications. Its operation is based on the buoyancy of the sphere: as condensate enters, the float rises, opening the seat assembly; when the level drops, the valve closes. Discharge is intermittent, and the...
