GESTRA QuickEM – Preassembled Steam Drainage Unit
The GESTRA QuickEM is a drainage unit designed for steam lines, collectors, and heat exchangers. It is delivered as a preassembled set with piping, flanges, gaskets, and essential isolation components, ensuring the steam trap is installed with predictable layout and correct flow direction.
Unit Configuration
The standard QuickEM includes:
- 2 or 3 isolation valves,
- steam trap BK, MK, or UNA,
- sight glass VK 14 / VK 16,
- check valve RK,
- optional bypass line,
- version for horizontal or vertical installation.
QuickEM Control
The QuickEM Control version replaces the sight glass with a measuring electrode NRG 16… for electronic steam trap monitoring. Monitoring covers two key conditions: condensate accumulation and live steam loss. In BK 45, MK 45, and UNA 4 steam traps, the electrode can be installed directly; for BK 15, MK 25, and UNA 1, a VKE control chamber is used.
Technical Specifications
- Nominal sizes: DN15 to DN50
- Pressures: PN16 / PN40
- Connections: flanges EN 1092-1 B1
- Piping materials: P235GH or stainless steel 1.4571
- Gaskets: graphite / perforated steel
- Option with or without bypass
- Pressure-temperature limitation by sight glass or electrode, depending on version.
Application Selection
Selection is not solely based on pipe DN. Required parameters include pressure before the steam trap, back pressure, temperature, pH, condensate flow, and steam trap type. Available differential pressure determines actual drainage capacity.
Compliance
The QuickEM covers Group 2 fluids according to PED. The standard QuickEM is not considered equipment with its own ignition source under ATEX, while the QuickEM Control should not be used in explosive atmospheres.
