CONA-control ARI – Steam Trap Monitoring
The CONA-control system is utilized for continuous monitoring of steam traps in steam and condensate return networks. It identifies two primary failures: steam leakage through the trap and blockage due to cold condensate accumulation. Measurement is conducted using a temperature/calorimetric sensor in a control chamber, evaluated by a measuring amplifier.
Installation Configurations
- External Control Chamber positioned before the steam trap.
- Bolt-on Control Chamber as an add-on for selected CONA steam traps.
- Local indication via LED for Trap Inspect, Blockage, and Steam Leakage.
- Optional AS-i-Bus interface, central indication for up to 30 steam traps, and connection to higher-level systems via PROFIBUS DP.
Technical Selection Data
The external chamber is available in PN40, DN15–DN50, with PS 32 barg and inlet temperature up to 250°C. Body materials: P250GH / 1.0460 or stainless steel 1.4541. Connections: flanges per DIN EN 1092-1, thread Rp per DIN EN 10226-1 or NPT per ANSI B1.20.1, socket weld per DIN EN 12760, and butt weld preparation per EN ISO 9692.
Electronics and Automation
A measuring amplifier is required per control chamber, wall or panel mounted, with IP65 protection. Power supply 18–36 VDC or AS-i-Bus, ambient temperature 0 to +70°C. The central unit has IP65, 100–240 VAC or optionally 24 VAC, with ambient temperature 0 to +50°C. The system does not use an actuator; output is for status indication/signaling to PLC, AS-i, or relay.
