Y-Type Strainers NORIS Bauform 140

NORIS Type 140 are flanged Y-strainers designed for installation upstream of measurement instruments, control valves, pumps, and process equipment sensitive to particulate contamination. Their primary function is to retain solid particles before they reach valve seats, pump impellers, or narrow instrument passages.

Construction

• Body: WN 1.4408, GS-C 25
• Cover: WN 1.4408 / 1.4571
• Screen: WN 1.4571 / 1.4401
• Gasket: Graphite or alternative material upon request
• Bolting: A4-70 or galvanized 5.6, depending on version

Operating Range

Available in PN16 and PN40 pressure classes, with a maximum design temperature of 300°C. Standard sizes range from DN15 to DN250, flanged to DIN. ANSI flanged versions are also available.

Screen and Sizing

Screen perforation varies by DN: 0.6 mm for small diameters up to 1.5 mm for larger sizes. Proper selection requires consideration of flow rate, acceptable differential pressure, network contamination level, and ability to clean the strainer without dismantling the pipeline.

• Upstream of control valves in water, steam, or compatible industrial fluid lines
• Pump suction or discharge, with attention to pressure drop
• Upstream of flow meters, pressure regulators, and equipment with tight tolerances

Installation and Maintenance

Flow direction must follow the body marking. Allow sufficient clearance for cover removal and screen cleaning. Options include double screen, drain plug, and heating jacket for viscous media or when chamber drainage is required prior to maintenance.

No. This is a passive in-line strainer.
