NORIS Bauform 50 – Single-Sided Flow Indicator with Ball
The NORIS 050 is a ball-controller type flow indicator designed for local monitoring of low flow rates in liquids and gases. The white PTFE indicator ball starts moving at approximately 3 L/h, providing visual confirmation of flow or potential low-flow leakage.
Operating Conditions
- Nominal Pressure: PN16
- Operating Pressure: 16 bar
- Maximum Temperature: 180 °C
- Installation: Horizontal, tolerance up to 30°
- Flow Direction: Must follow body arrow
- Technical Sheet Versions: G 1/2", G 3/4", DN15, DN20, DN25
Materials and Sealing
The body and cover flange are specified as GG25 / EN-GJL-250. The observation dome is made of hardened borosilicate glass. The indicator ball is PTFE, with sealing options of EPDM/PTFE or other based on fluid compatibility.
Operating Principle
Upon flow initiation, the ball moves within the dome and becomes visible to the operator. At higher flow rates, the ball's movement is more pronounced, and the flow helps keep the glass interior clean. When there is no flow, the ball moves out of the observation field.
Applications
Suitable for:
- Low flow or leakage monitoring
- Auxiliary water circuits
- Low-flow gases
- Dosing or bypass lines
- Locations where simple visual indication suffices without electrical signal
The seat geometry allows operation as a simple check element. However, in critical installations, check valve selection should be made separately, based on flow rate, back pressure, and sealing requirements.
FAQ
Does it accept an actuator?
No. It is a passive flow indicator without an actuator.
What is the main difference from types 020/025?
The 050 is not a full-visibility tubular indicator. It uses a single observation dome and indicator ball, focusing on low flow rates.
What should be checked before ordering?
DN or thread, pressure, temperature, flow direction, EPDM/PTFE chemical compatibility, and horizontal installation capability.
