STRIKO Direct-Acting Metallic Rupture Discs
STRIKO direct-acting rupture discs are non-reclosing pressure relief devices. The SZ-X series features a domed metallic design with cross-scored lines, operating in tension as differential pressure increases. Installation is between flanges using an SHZ holder or pre-torqued SHZ Pro.
Operating Conditions
- Media: gases, vapors, liquids, and multiphase fluids.
- Working ratio: up to 90% for SZ-X.
- Burst pressure tolerance: from ±5%, application-dependent.
- Temperature: up to 480°C (SZ-X table).
- SZ-X sizes: DN25–DN100.
- SZ-X pressure range: approx. 4–120 bar(g), depending on DN.
Variant Selection
SZ-X is specified for medium and high pressures, especially where fragment-free opening and installation upstream of safety valves are required. The fail-safe design ensures that incorrect orientation results in opening at or below the set pressure.
SZ-M / SZ-MV are domed composite discs. These are selected when flat discs are subject to pressure cycling. SZ-MV includes integrated vacuum support for full vacuum or high backpressure, depending on burst pressure.
Materials and Sealing
Available in stainless steels, nickel, and special alloys such as Hastelloy, Inconel, and tantalum. For corrosive media, PTFE liners can be specified. Metal-to-metal sealing in SHZ / SHZ Pro holders minimizes leakage at the seat.
Certifications
STRIKO holds ISO 9001:2015 for development and production of bursting disc safety devices, and quality system per Pressure Equipment Directive 2014/68/EU, Module D, with TÜV Rheinland as notified body.
FAQ
Is replacement required after activation?
Yes. The disc is non-reclosing.
Can it be combined with a safety valve?
Yes, especially SZ-X due to controlled, fragment-free opening.
What is required for selection?
Set pressure, temperature, DN, MAWP, backpressure, vacuum, process media, flange material, and required relief area.
