Pneumatically Actuated Hafner 5/2 Valves

Hafner 5/2 pneumatically actuated valves are designed for controlling double-acting cylinders without the need for electrical coils at the installation point. Switching is achieved via pilot air at the control ports, making them suitable for pneumatic logic, interlocks, and panels where electrical actuation is not preferred or available.

Operating Versions

• P 510: Monostable 5/2 with air spring return. Actuation pressure equals operating pressure. Available connections from M5 to G 3/4”, with flow rates from 180–6000 l/min.
• P 511: Monostable 5/2 with mechanical spring return. Operating pressure 1…10 bar, pilot pressure 3…10 bar.
• P 520: Bistable 5/2 with double pilot. Maintains last position until an opposite pneumatic signal is applied. Typical actuation pressure 2.5…10 bar.
• P 522: Bistable 5/2 with dominating piston at port 14, for circuits requiring priority of one pilot signal.

G-series and In-line Installation

In-line types are mounted directly in the supply line. G-series valves can be used as in-line units or on common manifold bases, reducing independent tubing in panels with multiple pneumatic actuators.

Selection Criteria

Selection is based on:

• cylinder volume and speed
• required air flow
• available supply pressure
• available pilot pressure
• single or double pilot operation
• requirement to maintain last position
• connection size: M5, G 1/8”, G 1/4”, G 3/8”, G 1/2”, G 3/4”

Applications

Used in packaging machinery, assembly lines, pneumatic grippers, pushers, lifting points, mechanical sequences, and automation where actuation must remain strictly pneumatic.

Maintenance

Inspect pilot tubing, venting of control ports, leakage at exhausts, air cleanliness, silencers, and switching time. For bistable valves, ensure no trapped pressure remains in any pilot line after operation.
