Hafner 5/3 Lever-Operated Pneumatic Valves
The Hafner HV / HVR 5/3 series comprises manually actuated, five-port, three-position pneumatic valves designed for double-acting cylinder control. The center position determines cylinder behavior when the lever is centered or no actuation signal is present.
Actuation Variants
- HV 531 / 532 / 533: Lever with spring return to center position.
- HVR 531 / 532 / 533: Indexed lever with mechanical detent at selected position.
Center Position Types
- 531 – Centre Closed: All working ports isolated. Used for temporary cylinder stop; consider air compressibility and internal leakage.
- 532 – Centre Exhausted: Cylinder ports vented. Selected when neutral position must depressurize the actuator.
- 533 – Centre Pressurized: Both cylinder sides pressurized. Applied in balancing or preloading arrangements.
Technical Specifications
Available port sizes: G 1/8”, G 1/4”, G 3/8”, G 1/2”, G 3/4”. Flow rates: 650 to 6000 l/min. Operating pressure: 1–10 bar. Actuation force: 20–40 N depending on size. Suitable for filtered, lubricated or non-lubricated compressed air. Temperature range and media compatibility per Hafner datasheets.
Selection Criteria
- Cylinder behavior in center position
- Required flow and actuator speed
- Spring return or indexed lever operation
- Thread type and port size
- Available air pressure
- Local actuation (panel or machine mounting)
Applications & Maintenance
Commonly used in manual control stations, cylinder testing, pneumatic panels, packaging machinery, and auxiliary maintenance operations. Inspect for port leakage, air quality, indexed position stability, full spring return (HV), and lever wear. Conforms to industrial pneumatic standards; consult manufacturer for certification and sealing options.
