Tecfluid LC Series Level Switch

The Tecfluid LC series is a point level switch for liquids, utilizing a magnetic float and reed contacts housed within a guide tube. Level changes move the float, actuating the corresponding contact to provide a discrete level signal for process automation, alarm, or pump protection functions.

Variants and Mechanical Connection

  • LCM: Guide length up to 2,000 mm, up to 3 RBC contacts.
  • LC: Guide length above 2,000 mm or more than 3 contacts, up to 5 RBC (manual) or 6 contacts (datasheet).
  • LC/LCM30: Flanged connection, EN 1092-1 or ASME B16.5 on request.
  • LC/LCM31: Threaded connection BSP or NPT.
  • Mounting from tank top or laterally via external chamber.

Materials and Operating Limits

Wetted parts available in EN 1.4404 / AISI 316L, PVC, PP, PTFE, or PVDF. Material selection should consider chemical compatibility, process temperature, and tank pressure.

  • Point accuracy: ±2 mm
  • Hysteresis: ±4 mm
  • Liquid viscosity: up to 1500 cSt
  • Minimum density: LCM ≥0.7 kg/l, LC ≥0.6 kg/l
  • Measuring range: 150–2,000 mm for LCM, up to 6,000 mm for LC (AISI 316L)
  • Pressure: PN16 for AISI 316L and plastics with internal AISI 316L, PN10 for PVC/PP/PTFE
  • Liquid temperature: up to 150°C for AISI 316L, PTFE, PVDF; up to 90°C for PP; up to 50°C for PVC.

Electrical Contacts and Protection

Reed contacts rated 1 A, 220 V, 60 VA. Available as RBC (bistable) and RSC (monostable). For inductive loads, surge protection is required; for higher loads, use an auxiliary relay. Plastic enclosure: IP67; aluminum enclosure and DIN 43650 connector: IP65.

Industrial Applications

  • Pump start/stop in storage tanks
  • Level control in dosing and process vessels
  • High/low level alarms
  • Chemical, food, marine, and textile tank monitoring

FAQ

Is this an analog level transmitter?
No. It is a point level switch with discrete contacts.

Can it be used in ATEX zones?
Tecfluid declares it as “Simple Apparatus” per EN 60079-11:2013, for use only with intrinsically safe circuits; no ATEX marking by a notified body.
