WEY DP Knife Gate Valve – O-Port Design

The WEY DP series is a bidirectional isolation valve for media containing solids, long fibres or sedimenting particles. Its through-going O-Port gate moves across the full media column during closing, reducing the risk of solids packing in the seat area and limiting gate obstruction.

Technical Data

  • Nominal sizes: DN50–DN400

  • Maximum pressure: up to 25 bar, depending on configuration

  • Typical pneumatic version: up to 10 bar for DN50–DN300 and up to 6 bar for DN350–DN400

  • Flange connections: PN10, PN16, PN25 or ASME Class 150

  • Face-to-face dimension: EN 558 Series 20 or project-specific

  • Body materials: EN-GJL-250 or stainless steel 1.4404

  • Gate materials: stainless steel 1.4301 or 1.4404, optionally hard chrome plated

  • Leakage test: EN 12266-1, Leakage Rate C

The transverse seal limits external leakage and can be readjusted through lateral compression screws without removing the valve from the pipeline. Compression must be applied evenly to avoid excessive friction or gate jamming.

Actuator Options

  • Handwheel

  • Bevel gearbox

  • Pneumatic cylinder

  • Hydraulic cylinder

  • Electric actuator

For pneumatic operation, clean, dry and filtered instrument air is required. Closing speed should be controlled where pressure surges or water hammer may occur.

Applications

Pulp and fibre suspensions, biomass, wood chips, granular solids, chemical slurries and process lines with settling or compacting media. The valve is mainly selected for full open or full closed service.

FAQ

What is the purpose of the O-Port gate?
The circular opening maintains an unrestricted flow path in the open position and allows the gate edge to cut through fibres or compacted solids during closing.

How is the seat material selected?
NBR, EPDM, FKM or other elastomers are selected according to temperature, chemical compatibility and abrasiveness.

Is the DP suitable for throttling?
The standard configuration is intended for isolation. Continuous throttling requires a dedicated control configuration and actuator sizing.

Description

With its special O-Port gate design, the DP model is suitable for the most difficult applications involving solids. Due to its unique design, it can easily cut through a medium column holding solids. The integrated transverse seal sets the DP model apart from conventional O-Port gate valves, guaranteeing maximum performance.

Details

The robust metal yoke enables the optimal, simple assembly of mechanical or inductive limit switches. The yoke can be removed from one side. This makes it easier to access the mechanical parts.

The through gate design allows valve to be closed through stagnant media columns or if there are long-fiber media.
