Y-Pattern Bolted Bonnet Globe Valve Fluitek

The Y-pattern globe valve with a bolted bonnet features an inclined stem design, offering an alternative to the straight/T-pattern globe valve when reduced pressure drop is required for the same flow rate. Typically constructed with a cast body, it is available with flanged or butt weld ends.

Operational Use

The Y-pattern globe valve is selected for lines where isolation must be combined with lower hydraulic load than a conventional globe. Suitable for steam, water, condensates, thermal circuits, and auxiliary processes, provided the body and trim materials match the medium, temperature, and corrosion conditions of the line.

For simple isolation, a plug disc is typically used. For controlled throttling, a parabolic disc is preferred, with control over Δp, flow velocity, and potential seat wear.

ANSI 600# Reference Dimensions

The technical datasheet provides an example for Class 600 from 2" to 12", with face-to-face dimensions of 292–838 mm and weights of 35–1113 kg depending on size and end type. Sizes above 12" are determined per application.

Differences from Conventional T-pattern Globe

The T-pattern globe has a greater change in flow direction within the body. The Y-pattern reduces flow resistance due to the inclined geometry of the stem/seat, without altering the basic globe valve function: vertical disc movement towards the seat.

Is it a control valve?

Description

In addition to the line of globe valves bolted bonnet, FLUITEK ORSENIGO VALVES has added a line of same type of valve but with an inclined stem configuration, called Y-pattern type, as an alternative to the straight pattern, also called T-pattern. In principle, the Y-pattern configuration presents lower pressure drops at equal flow rate. The disc is normally either plug type or parabolic shaped. Cast body construction is normally used. Ends configuration is either with flanged ends or with butt weld ends.

Materials range from carbon steel to low alloy steel, to austenitic stainless steel, to nickel alloys. Materials are either to ASTM/ASME standards or to EN standards, either harmonized or calculated to design conditions. Pressure classes (per ANSI standard) are normally ranging from 150# to 300# to 600#. Size range depends on pressure class requirements, normally not exceeding 12”. FLUITEK ORSENIGO VALVES has anyhow no limits in relation to market requirements.
