Electromagnetic Flowmeter Tecfluid FLOMID

The Tecfluid FLOMID is an in-line electromagnetic flowmeter designed for conductive liquids. Measurement is based on Faraday’s law of induction: the voltage generated at the electrodes is proportional to the mean flow velocity. Indication is independent of fluid density, viscosity, temperature, or pressure, within the selected material limits.

Operating Ranges

  • Flow rate: 5 l/h to 10,100 m³/h
  • Measuring velocity: 0.2 to 10 m/s
  • Accuracy: ±0.5% of reading for velocity ≥ 0.4 m/s
  • Minimum conductivity: 20 μS/cm
  • Connections: wafer DN3–DN100, flanged DN10–DN600, hygienic DN10–DN100

Wetted Materials

Liner selection depends on chemical compatibility, temperature, and pressure: PP, PVDF, PTFE, or ebonite. Electrodes available in Hastelloy C22, AISI 316L, titanium, or tantalum. Measuring tube is EN 1.4301 / AISI 304, with carbon steel or AISI 316L flange options.

  • FLOMID-2FX / 4FX: flanged, EN 1092-1 or ASME B16.5, PTFE or ebonite liner

Transmitters and Signals

Available transmitters: XT5, MX4, XL1. Supported outputs: local display, totalizer, 4–20 mA, pulse, alarm relay, empty pipe detection, HART, MODBUS RTU RS485 (depending on transmitter).

Installation

Pipe must be full; electrodes must remain wetted. Minimum straight runs: 5 × DN upstream, 3 × DN downstream. Install valves downstream and pumps upstream to avoid vacuum stress on liner. Grounding rings required for plastic or non-conductive pipes.

FAQ

Can it measure gases or steam?
No. Conductive liquid required.

Is a filter needed?
Not for measurement principle, but consider if abrasive solids are present that may damage liner or electrodes.
