The PPO14 is a mechanical pressure pump designed for the transfer of steam condensate, oils, and non-hazardous liquids compatible with its construction materials, to a higher level or return line with backpressure. It operates without electrical power, using saturated steam, compressed air, nitrogen, or other driving gases.
The liquid enters by gravity through a check valve. As the float rises, the driving medium inlet opens and the vent closes. Pressure in the body increases until it overcomes the backpressure, displacing the liquid through the outlet. The cycle repeats at the lower level.
The body is either carbon or stainless steel, depending on the variant. Internal parts, valves, and float are stainless steel, springs are Inconel, and gaskets are stainless/graphite. Level indicators and cycle counters are available for operational control and flow estimation.
Used in open condensate recovery systems, draining equipment under pressure or vacuum under specific conditions, and combined with steam traps to address stall in heat exchangers with modulating steam supply. The vent line must be unobstructed and self-draining to the receiver.
Is it a pump-trap?
No. It is a pressure pump. In stall applications, it is combined with a separate steam trap.
What information is required for selection?
Condensate load, driving medium and pressure, total backpressure, piping losses, and available filling head.
