Wafer Butterfly Valve MEI Series VFI

The MEI VFI is a butterfly valve designed for flow isolation in industrial pipelines, available in wafer version with lug option in the manufacturer's series. It is installed as a wafer type between flanges, suitable for sizes DN50–DN300.

Construction and Connection

  • Body Materials: Carbon steel or AISI 316L.
  • Special materials: Available upon request.
  • Connection: Wafer between flanges.
  • Standardization: DIN / ANSI.
  • Nominal pressure on product page: PN10 / PN16.
  • Manufacturer specifies UNI PN10 as standard flange, with other classes available upon request.

Seats and Media Compatibility

Standard sealing is EPDM, with NBR, Viton, and PTFE as options. EPDM is typically used for water and neutral fluids, NBR for oils or low-aggressiveness hydrocarbons, Viton for high temperature or chemical requirements, and PTFE for enhanced chemical resistance at the contact surface. Final selection should consider fluid, temperature, concentration, and differential pressure.

Applications

The VFI is used in shipbuilding, oil networks, chemical plants, and water treatment. For steam, corrosive chemicals, or abrasive slurries, material, seat, handling torque, and operating conditions must be reviewed before selection.

FAQ

When to choose AISI 316L?
In environments with humidity, clean fluids, or moderate corrosive load, provided the fluid is compatible with stainless steel and the seat.

Is it a control valve?
Primarily used for on/off. For throttling, disk position, flow velocity, noise, and potential seat wear must be evaluated.
