Mono-Flanged Short Butterfly Valve Alfa Europe S60

The S60 is a mono short/wafer type butterfly valve with a bonded liner, designed for installation between flanges in industrial isolation networks. It covers DN50–DN1000, designed according to EN 593 and face-to-face according to EN 558-1 Series 20. Available flange connections include DIN PN6/10/16/25, ANSI B16.5 Class 150, and JIS B2211 5K/10K.

Operating Conditions

  • Pressure: various classes up to 25 bar, depending on DN and configuration.
  • Temperature range: -40 to +250 °C.
  • Vacuum: up to 1×10⁻³ / 0.2 Torr absolute.
  • Top flange: ISO 5211 for actuator or manual operation.

Materials and Seat Options

Available with EN-JS1030 ductile iron body, ASTM A216 WCB, stainless steel 1.4408, or aluminum bronze BS 1400 AB2. Disc options include BS 1400 AB2, EN-JS1030, 1.4408, and super duplex SD 2507. Shaft options include SS 1.4122, SS 431, SS 1.4462, or SD F53.

Seats:

  • NBR: -15 to +80 °C
  • EPDM: -23 to +120 °C
  • Viton: 0 to +200 °C
  • Silicone: -40 to +230 °C

Actuation Options

  • Bare shaft: DN50–DN1000, for pneumatic or electric actuator.
  • Lever operated: DN50–DN200, for local on/off operation.
  • Gearbox operated: DN50–DN600, for reduced torque handling in larger diameters.

Typical Applications

The S60 is used in water circuits, cooling, HVAC, auxiliary industrial networks, pumping stations, and lines requiring compact installation. For seawater, chemicals, or high chlorides, verify the combination of body, disc, shaft, and liner.

FAQ

When to choose mono short construction?
When minimal installation length, simple flange placement, and reduced weight compared to flanged valves are required.

Is it suitable for throttling?
Only for limited throttling. Continuous proportional control requires flow rate, differential pressure, noise, and cavitation checks.
