ARI-STEVI BBD 415 – Bottom Blowdown Valve for Steam Boiler Applications

The ARI-STEVI BBD 415 is specified for periodic bottom blowdown and sludge removal in industrial steam boilers. The valve is operated via pneumatic actuator or manual lever, designed for short-duration opening to generate a flow pulse that removes sediment from the boiler bottom.

Technical Specifications

  • Sizes: DN 25–50
  • Pressure rating: PN 40
  • Connection: Flanged, DIN EN 1092-1/-2
  • Face-to-face: DIN EN 558, Series 1
  • Body material: GP240GH+N / 1.0619+N
  • Stem sealing: PTFE V-ring, -10°C to 240°C
  • Seat: Metal, Stellited, leakage class 1 per DIN 3230 T3/BN
  • Pneumatic supply: up to 6 bar, air per DIN IEC 60654-2

Operating Conditions

For 1.0619+N material: allowable working pressure is 40 bar up to 120°C, 35 bar at 200°C, 28 bar at 300°C, and 13.1 bar at 450°C. Valve selection must consider boiler pressure, temperature, blowdown cycle, and available pneumatic supply.

Installation and Piping

Flow direction must be towards the closing direction. Downstream piping should have a downward slope, gradual diameter increase, no immediate check valves or restrictions, and sufficient bend radius. Distance from boiler to valve should not exceed 2 m.

Actuation Options

Available with pneumatic actuator, solenoid valve, limit switch, manual lever, and air preparation unit with pressure gauge. In case of air loss, spring returns valve to closed position.

Standards and Compliance

Series 415 is covered by PED 2014/68/EU for pressure equipment, Fluid Group 2, Diagram 7. Type 415 is rated for PN 40 and DN 25–50.

FAQ

When is this valve selected?
