Typical STRIKO SHF / SHZ / SHU Rupture Disc Holders
The SHF, SHZ, and SHU holders are designed for the installation of STRIKO metallic rupture discs between flanges. The holder defines the disc seating, compression on the sealing surface, and the inlet/outlet geometry. In SHZ and SHU variants, a metallic seal is formed between the disc and the holder inlet during flange tightening, ensuring process containment.
Technical Data
- Series: SHF / SHZ / SHU
- DN Range: DN20–DN250 (see product page), up to DN800 referenced in general catalog
- Operating Temperature: -200°C to +480°C
- Pressure: Dependent on disc type and nominal diameter
- Materials: Stainless steels (typically 1.4571), Hastelloy, Inconel, Sandvik SX, tantalum, carbon steel, or PTFE lining as required by application
Installation and Sealing
Installation requires gaskets between flange and holder. Optionally, a rupture indicator or leak sensor can be installed between flanges. Torque applied during assembly directly affects sealing integrity and burst pressure repeatability. Assembly must follow flow direction, flange centering, and disc-specific instructions.
StandardHolder vs Pro Holder
StandardHolder is used for conventional installations where the disc is positioned during flange assembly. SHF/SHZ/SHU Pro is a pre-assembled unit with bolt centering features, allowing reinstallation after visual inspection. The Pro version reduces installation errors during maintenance or shutdowns.
Typical Applications
Used in pressure vessels, reactors, steam lines, chemical piping, gas systems, and installations where the disc functions as an independent relief device or upstream of a safety valve.
FAQ
Is a holder required for every disc?
Not for all types. The disc type determines if SHF, SHZ, SHU, or direct installation is required.
What information is needed for selection?
DN, disc type, set pressure, temperature, flange details, process media, backpressure, vacuum, and rupture indication requirements.
