KITO H 41.0 N In-line Deflagration Flame Arrestor

The KITO H 41.0 N is a bidirectional in-line deflagration flame arrestor with flanged connections, designed for the protection of vessels, equipment, and piping sections against flame transmission in flammable gas or vapor mixtures. Reference types: KITO RG-Def-IIA-…-1.2 and RG-Def-IIA-…-1.2-T / -TT.

Operating Limits

  • Explosion group: IIA1 to IIA
  • MESG: > 0.9 mm
  • Max. operating pressure: 1.2 bar abs.
  • Max. operating temperature: 60 °C
  • Max. ignition source distance: 50 × internal pipe diameter
  • Installation: horizontal or vertical piping, any orientation
  • Stabilized burning: BT ≤ 30.0 min

Applications

Used in flanged vent lines, vapor recovery systems, tank breathing lines, small process piping, and skid-mounted units. Bidirectional operation is selected when ignition sources cannot be limited to one side of the line.

Difference from H 41 N

The H 41.0 N is functionally equivalent to the H 41 N for group IIA and BT ≤ 30 min, but uses a flanged connection instead of threaded. Selected where piping, maintenance, or project specifications require EN or ASME flanges.

Connections and Sizes

Range covers DN 15 to DN 50. Flanges are EN 1092-1 type B1, PN 40 for DN 15–40, PN 16 for DN 50. Optional ASME B16.5 Class 150 RF available.

Materials and Monitoring

  • Body: carbon steel or stainless steel 1.4571
  • Gasket: HD 3822 or PTFE
  • Flame arrestor element: fully replaceable
  • Casing / grid: 1.4301 / 1.4310 or 1.4571 / 1.4571
  • Bolts/nuts: A2 or A4
  • Sensor: PT100, 1/4" connection, material 1.4571

Selection Notes

Stabilized burning detection requires a thermocouple on each hazardous side. Selection must consider explosion group, L/D ratio, flow rate, pressure drop, condensate, and material compatibility. Certified to EN ISO 16852 with CE marking per ATEX 2014/34/EU.

Description

KITO® RG-Def-IIA-…-1.2

KITO® RG-Def-IIA-…-1.2-T (-TT)

– design with flange connection –

  • For installation into pipes to the protection of vessels and components against deflagration of flammable liquids and gases.
  • Approved for all substances of explosion groups IIA1 to IIA with a maximum experimental safe gap (MESG) > 0.9 mm.
  • Bi-directionally working in pipes, whereby an operating pressure of 1.2 bar abs. and an operating temperature of 60 °C must not be exceeded.
  • The distance between a potential ignition source and the flame arrester must not exceed 50 times the inner pipe diameter.
  • All sizes are tested against “stabilized burning” and withstand this up to a max. burn time BT ≤ 30.0 min.
  • To detect a “stabilized burning” a thermocouple must be installed at each endangered side.
  • Mounting is acceptable in any position, in horizontal as well as in vertical pipes.
