KITO H 46.1 N In-line Deflagration Flame Arrestor

The KITO H 46.1 N is a bidirectional in-line deflagration flame arrestor with threaded connections, designed for small gas lines in consumption devices. Typical use includes ignition line protection in biogas plant flare systems. Reference type: KITO FS-Def0-IIC-…“.

Operating Limits

  • Explosion group: IIA1 to IIC
  • MESG: < 0.5 mm
  • Operating pressure: up to 1.1 bar abs.
  • Operating temperature: up to 60 °C
  • Bidirectional operation
  • Max. ignition source distance: 30 × internal pipe diameter

Applications

H 46.1 N is used in ignition lines, auxiliary fuel lines, small biogas piping, and installations requiring protection for mixtures up to IIC. Compared to H 44.1 N and H 45.1 N, selection is based on lower MESG and stricter L/D limitation at 30D.

Connections and Dimensions

Device is supplied with both internal and external threads. Available sizes:

  • G ½", G ¾", G 1"
  • G 1¼", G 1½", G 2"

Weights range from approx. 0.15 kg to 0.9 kg depending on connection size.

Construction Materials

All stainless steel construction:

  • Body: 1.4571
  • KITO grid: 1.4571
  • Intermediate parts: 1.4571
  • Retaining ring: stainless steel

Selection Criteria

Selection must confirm explosion group, MESG, pressure, temperature, internal pipe diameter, ignition source distance, and available pressure drop. Flow curves are provided for air at ρ = 1.29 kg/m³, 273 K, atmospheric pressure; correction for other gases is required based on density.

Certification

Type examination certificate per EN ISO 16852 and CE marking in accordance with ATEX 2014/34/EU.

Description

KITO® FS-Def0-IIC-…“

  • Installation into pipelines as inline deflagration flame arrester e. g. for the protection of ignition gas lines of gas consumption devices (flare of biogas plants).
  • Applicable for all materials of the explosion groups IIA1 up to IIC with a maximum experimental safe gap (MESG) < 0.5 mm.
  • Operating from both sides, for a maximum operating pressure of 1.1 bar abs. and a maximum operating temperature of 60 °C.
  • The distance between the ignition source and the armature may not be larger than 30 x the inside pipe diameter.
