Zubi Valves – Technical profile of a knife gate, diaphragm, check and penstock valve manufacturer
Zubi Valves is a Spanish manufacturer of industrial valves for difficult fluids, wastewater, slurry, pulp, bulk solids, abrasive media, corrosive fluids and open-channel applications. Its product range includes knife gate valves, check valves, diaphragm valves, penstock valves and pneumatic actuators for knife gate valves.
The range represented through Philippopoulos S.A. includes:
- ball check valves,
- disc check valves,
- tilting disc check valves,
- diaphragm valves,
- knife gate valves,
- slurry knife gate valves,
- through conduit knife gate valves,
- silo knife gate valves,
- penstock valves,
- pneumatic actuators.
Diaphragm valves are used for corrosive or abrasive fluids and can be supplied in straight-through or weir type designs. Lined and unlined bodies are selected according to chemical compatibility, solids content and abrasion.
Ball check valves are self-cleaning reverse-flow protection valves suitable for wastewater and fluids with suspended solids. The ball rotates during operation, reducing the risk of solids accumulation on the sealing surface.
Disc and tilting disc check valves are used where different dynamic behaviour is required. Tilting disc versions may include auxiliary spring assistance to reduce closing time and water hammer risk.
Knife gate valves are used in slurry, pulp, powders, bulk solids, wastewater and industrial fluids with solids. The correct design depends on whether the valve is unidirectional or bidirectional, full bore or reduced bore, metal seated or rubber sleeved, and whether flushing ports are required.
Through conduit knife gate valves are used for high-consistency pulp and static slurries. Slurry knife gate valves use abrasion-resistant sleeves to protect the body and improve shut-off in abrasive service. Silo-type valves are used in powder and bulk material discharge applications.
Penstock valves are used in open channels, tanks and wastewater structures. Selection depends on wall-mounted or channel-mounted installation, sealing on three or four sides, head pressure, clear opening and actuator type.
Zubi selection must be based on medium behaviour: solids content, particle size, abrasion, corrosion, slurry density, flow direction, pressure differential, cleanability and maintenance access.
