Noris Armaturen – Technical profile of a sight flow indicator, tank sight glass and strainer manufacturer

Noris Armaturen is a German manufacturer of visual flow indication and pipeline protection equipment. Its range includes sight flow indicators, tank sight glass fittings, Y strainers, basket strainers, accessories, glass discs, gaskets and lighting units.

The products represented through Philippopoulos S.A. are mainly:

  • double-window sight flow indicators,
  • single-window flow indicators,
  • flow indicators with flap, spinner or ball,
  • high-pressure sight glasses,
  • DIN and ANSI flanged versions,
  • threaded and welded versions,
  • tank sight glasses,
  • Y strainers.

Sight flow indicators are used for local visual confirmation of flow, filling, colour, bubbles, foaming or suspended solids. They are not flowmeters and do not replace calibrated measurement instruments. Their role is direct field observation by operators or maintenance personnel.

Double-window indicators allow observation through the process line. Versions with flap, spinner or ball are useful when the medium is transparent and flow movement is not obvious. High-pressure versions must be selected according to pressure, temperature, glass type and sealing arrangement.

Tank sight glasses are installed on vessels and tanks for local visual inspection. In pressure vessels, they must be treated as part of the pressure boundary. Material, gasket, glass, pressure, temperature and maintenance method must be verified.

Y strainers are used to protect pumps, control valves, meters and downstream equipment from solids, welding debris, rust or commissioning particles. Selection requires mesh size, pressure drop, access for cleaning, drain arrangement and body material.

Noris products are relevant for process engineers, maintenance departments, steam specialists and plant operators requiring simple, mechanical visual indication and protection of industrial piping systems.

Soda lime glass acc. to DIN 8902 | Noris

Soda lime glass acc. to DIN 8902 | Noris
NORIS DIN 8902 – Round Soda-Lime Plates for Sight Glasses NORIS DIN 8902 plates are round observation glasses made from specially hardened, ground, and polished soda-lime glass. They are used as replacements in flow indicators, sight glasses, and inspection windows where the glass operates under compressive stress. The maximum operating temperature is 150...

Borosilicate glass acc. to DIN 7081 | Noris

Borosilicate glass acc. to DIN 7081 | Noris
NORIS DIN 7081 – Borosilicate Glass for Level Gauges NORIS glasses according to DIN 7081 are replacement borosilicate glass plates for visual level gauges in boilers, pressure vessels, and industrial liquid circuits. These are not complete gauge assemblies; selection is based on compatibility with existing gauge bodies, dimensional fit, gasket selection,...

Gaskets for sight glasees | Noris

Gaskets for sight glasees | Noris
NORIS – Gaskets for Sight Glass Level Gauges NORIS gaskets are used in sight glass level gauges with glass plates, serving as sealing elements between the glass, gauge body, and cover. These are not level indication components but critical sealing spares that directly affect leakage, glass compression, and safe operation under steam or process liquid...

Sight glass light fitting type BKVLR | Noris

Sight glass light fitting type BKVLR | Noris
Indicator Sight Glass Luminaire Noris BKVLR The Noris BKVLR is a compact stainless steel luminaire designed for illumination of sight glasses in non-hazardous areas, where no explosion-proof classification is required per the available technical datasheet. It is used in applications where observation of level, flow, foaming, or medium color requires...

Sight glass light fitting type KEL | Noris

Sight glass light fitting type KEL | Noris
Indicator Glass Luminaire Noris KEL The Noris KEL is a luminaire designed for tank sight glasses and sight flow indicators. It enables combined illumination and observation through a single glass port, suitable for both safe and hazardous (Ex) areas. Technical documentation classifies it as an EX-light fitting; specific Ex/ATEX certification must be...
