Valsteam ADCA – Technical profile of a steam, condensate and industrial fluid equipment manufacturer

Valsteam ADCA is a Portuguese manufacturer of equipment for steam, condensate and industrial fluid systems. The company operates mainly through two product lines: ADCA, for industrial steam and fluid applications, and ADCAPure, for clean steam, filtered air, purified water and clean utilities in pharmaceutical, food, cosmetics and fine chemical applications.

ADCA equipment covers a large part of the steam and condensate loop. Steam traps, pressure regulators, control valves, separators, condensate pumps and heat recovery units must be selected as a system, not as isolated components.

Steam traps are selected according to condensate load, differential pressure, back pressure, start-up load and air venting requirements. Float and thermostatic traps are common on heat exchangers and variable condensate loads. Thermodynamic traps are compact and suitable for distribution drainage and tracing, when correctly applied.

Mechanical condensate pumps and pump traps are used when condensate cannot return by gravity or available differential pressure. They are relevant in heat exchangers operating under stall conditions, closed condensate systems and high back pressure return lines.

Pressure reducing stations require strainer, separator, gauges, bypass, safety valve and proper condensate drainage. Control valves require Kv / Cv calculation, actuator sizing, fail position, leakage class and checks for cavitation, flashing or noise.

Deaerators, boiler feed tanks, flash vessels and blowdown vessels are part of the boilerhouse energy and water balance. Selection requires steam pressure, condensate return flow, flash steam quantity, feedwater demand and blowdown rate.

For steam specialists and process engineers, Valsteam ADCA should be evaluated from the complete steam balance: generation, distribution, drainage, pressure reduction, condensate recovery, deaeration and heat recovery.
