In-line deflagration and detonation flame arresters are used in piping where a flame front may propagate through an explosive gas or vapour mixture. Selection depends on gas group, MESG, operating pressure, temperature, pipe geometry, L/D ratio and whether the scenario is deflagration or detonation.
