CSA – Technical profile of a water control valve, air valve and surge protection equipment manufacturer

CSA is an Italian manufacturer of hydraulic control equipment for water supply, wastewater, irrigation, desalination and industrial water systems. Its product range is focused on automatic control valves, air valves, pressure reducing valves, pressure sustaining valves, surge protection devices and special valves for water networks.

Pressure reducing valves are used to control downstream pressure in water distribution networks. Pressure sustaining valves maintain minimum upstream pressure. Relief valves protect the network from excessive pressure. Pump control valves manage pump start-up and shutdown transients. Air valves evacuate air during filling, admit air during draining and release accumulated air during operation.

Selection requires hydraulic data:

  • maximum, minimum and normal flow,
  • upstream and downstream pressure,
  • pipe profile,
  • filling and draining conditions,
  • pump start / stop logic,
  • surge analysis where applicable,
  • water quality,
  • cavitation risk,
  • installation chamber layout,
  • maintenance access.

For water engineers, desalination engineers, irrigation designers and municipal utilities, CSA equipment must be selected as part of the hydraulic behaviour of the full network. Air management and surge protection should be reviewed during design, not added only after operational problems appear.
